What is a Party of Note?  It’s another entertaining way to support your Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra!  Your hosts provide the party and your entrance ticket fee goes directly to support the CSO.

A Little Night Music
Nothing minimal about this evening! Start out by tasting a wide variety of bite-sized nibbles and mini main dishes as you watch a cooking demonstration of miniature meal recipes. Enjoy the first day of Autumn and watch the air traffic at Lunken Airport from two-tiered decks while sipping on your choice of wine, beer, soda or special cocktails. Then have dessert and dance to the mixed music of Fast Sky as the sun dips behind the trees. Take home a list of recipes from the demonstration to try at your next party.

You-nique Silk Scarves
Guests will gather for a private session at Silk Road Textiles where they will have personalized, expert guidance in making a silk scarf as colorful and patterned as desired. Each guest brings their own 5-6 men’s ties made from 100% silk to create the images transferred onto a ordinary white silk scarf. Results are not the least bit plain, and each guest takes their scarf home fully completed, at the end of the party.

A Remarkable CSO & CCM Musical Collaboration
The Ariel Quartet, the acclaimed resident string quartet at CCM has won praise in Cincinnati and around the world for their brilliant and soulful performances. The Quartet will perform with CSO musicians Ilya Finkelshteyn, principal cello and Christian Colberg, principal viola, both widely respected for their chamber music performances as well as their exquisite musical leadership in the CSO. This rare opportunity to hear these great musicians collaborating for the first time in music of Brahms, in the beautiful home of CCM Dean Peter Landgren and his wife Judith Schonbach. These wonderfully warm musicians will join guests to eat, drink and be merry after the performance.

Alan Flaherty and Patti Myers are rolling out the red carpet two weeks before the annual Academy Awards Ceremony to put you in the mood and in the know for the Oscars! CSO’s own Stacey Woolley will provide insights and samplings of award-winning music originally created for films. The fun continues during a Oscar-themed dinner prepared by your hosts. Special guest Michael Evan Haney, Associate Artistic Director of Playhouse in the Park and award-winning actress Amy Warner will provide their takes on which of the 2014 nominees deserve to go home with those coveted golden statuettes.

A Diamond in Delhi
Mount St. Joseph, the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity, is a nineteenth-century architectural and artistic gem overlooking the Ohio River. Besides the beautifully designed and appointed four-story Renaissance Romanesque Chapel, it contains an art collection and historical displays rarely seen by the public. You will be delighted to see works of local artists, as well as other interesting pieces. Sisters of Charity historians will guide the tour. Meet faculty and administrators from the College’s Department of Art & Design, who are eager to make a positive impact on this community. Enjoy viewing dynamic art prints which are available for purchase from the members of Tiger Lily Press. Tiger Lily Press is a Fine Art Printmaking studio, in existence since 1978, currently located on the grounds of the Dunham Recreation Center, just minutes away from the Flats Gallery.

Dinner and a Murder
Welcome to the 1920’s—complete with gangsters, a piano bar, and even a murder! Enjoy a 1920’s-style performance by members of the CSO, but be careful! This lovely dinner has a twist befitting the times: a murder. The murder mystery will be led by the accomplished actors of the WhoDunIt Players, with the help of a few volunteer party-goers. Regardless of whether you decide to participate or just watch the show, you will have an opportunity to guess “WhoDunIt.”

An Old House with Old Memories
In 1881, the house at 1247 Ida Street atop Mt. Adams was sold at Sheriff's auction for $600. Since then, the house has undergone many redesigns, rehabilitations and refurbishment, most notably since 1976, when it was sold to writer Stephan Birmingham and the psychologist Edward Lahniers, for a little more than $600! The house has become nationally recognized, with features in various publications, including 'House Beautiful' and 'Architectural Digest'. Please join Stephen and Ed for an evening of exploration in the old house and gardens with a generous dose of cocktails, music and light fare. You'll be adding to the building's storehouse of jolly old memories.

The Voice of America Bethany Station was so successful in broadcasting the truth to Nazi-occupied territory during WWII that Hitler found it necessary to refer to the station as the “Cincinnati Liars." What was once the most powerful radio broadcasting station on earth is now the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting. Spend an afternoon learning about its history and view the Gray History of Wireless Museum—an extensive collection of radio receiving and transmitting equipment, Media Heritage’s Greater Cincinnati Museum of Broadcast History and West Chester Amateur Radio Assn. station WC8VOA, which continues to communicate via short wave radio with stations all over the world.
